Advanced Material Development has won an extension to its ongoing nanomaterials work with the United States Army.
The focus of the work is a project to provide camouflage control of electromagnetic emissions using a novel metamaterial-based frequency reflector.
This reflector uses AMD’s proprietary nHance ink system, a patented platform that can print a wide range of 2D ink and coating nanomaterials with controllable thicknesses.
Richard Lee, AMD’s chief commercial officer, said: “The AMD team has been working closely with Picatinny-based Army Research Lab personnel for over a year now and we are excited at the prospect of this fascinating project developing further over the coming years.”
The contract extension comes a few weeks after AMD was picked by major UK and US defence contractor QinetiQ to join the Weapons Sector Research Framework (WSRF), where again the company’s focus is on camouflage and shielding.
